Tagaytay Staycation: Taal Vista Hotel

"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all."
There's always been a need for me to get away from the city. I have this, what my parents call an itch to either go out or to travel. Despite this year being the most amazing year of my life so far, it also has been the most stressful and tedious one. An escape to one of the most popular quintessential hotels in Tagaytay is just exactly what I needed.

After travelling for about an hour and a half on a Friday afternoon, we arrived in Taal Vista Hotel and greeted by the sweet smiles of the staff and a complimentary welcome drink. The lobby was quite busy with people roaming around, waiting in line and taking photos of the nice interior. As we were waiting for our room key, we sat down in the lobby which is also a cafe and I absolutely loved the design because they're floral and so dainty! After a good five minutes, we were assisted to our room and a staff insisted to carry our overnight bags. The Lake Wing where we're staying is a five minute walk from the lobby. As the staff opens our hotel room door, a sense of excitement and happiness came over me. I had no idea what our hotel room would look like and I was amused to see how modern and classy our room was. Taal Vista Hotel really exceeded beyond our expectation. I slowly stepped my feet as I go inside the hotel room and I was instantly mesmerized by the beautiful view of Taal Volcano peeking from the outside. The weather was quite gloomy and foggy which made it more beautiful. Giles gave me a quick hug as we stand in the balcony and I immensely felt like home.

We stayed in a nice Deluxe Queen room in the Lake View Wing which gave us a gorgeous view of the sky and of course, Taal Volcano (and also a bit of Sky Ranch on the side!) Giles and I were excited to see the whole room so we put down our bags, removed our shoes and switched to the slip ons provided by the hotel and put on Spotify for some fun Friday music! Our room is equipped top notch amenities, a flat screen TV set with cable channels and just below the TV, there's a mini fridge with complimentary non alcoholic beverages inside: 2 bottled water, 1 pineapple juice, 1 four season juice, 3 soft drinks. A basket of fresh fruits, chocolate cake & fresh flowers are part of the complimentary treats too. The coffee & tea making equipment and drinking water came in handy during that afternoon because we were a bit tired & sleepy so we indulged on fresh fruits, cake, made ourselves a cup of coffee and sat in the balcony to enjoy the view and breathe in some fresh air.

A spacious toilet and bath room is God's gift from heaven because I'm very OC when it comes to toilets & showers. The split shower and toilet plus a mirror in the middle made our stay more comfortable. I decided to set up my make up tools & skin care set in front of the mirror so it was easier for me to get ready. Toiletries were available which comes with 2 facial soaps, 1 placed near the sink and the other one is placed inside the shower. Giles & i always bring our own so we only used the soap to wash our hands. #OCprobs The robes were comfy too and the slip ons were very helpful because I forgot to bring my slippers!

The beds were comfortable and the pillows were just okay because I'm used to sleeping with really puffy pillows. The comforter was exceptionally clean and it smelled good too. I really love the feeling of cuddling under the sheets when it's really really cold and you can feel the soft and comfortable blanket wrapped around your body. Heaven!

Taal Vista Hotel is truly a nature loving place filled with flowers, plants and trees. I love the cold breeze in the morning with a mix of heat that comes from the sun. The whole place is clean and staff are roaming around to assist you whenever you need anything. I love how helpful and accommodating all their staff are and they're always happy to help.

A Kultura store is located inside the hotel and they have the cutest and locally made souvenirs. There's also a bakeshop beside it where you can purchase pastries - I wasn't able to try it so I can't tell if it's good but maybe on my next visit I'll check out the pastries and cakes.

The new Veranda restaurant inside Taal Vista Hotel opened its doors just recently - specifically last October 26, 2016 and they serve lunch and dinner. This iconic Tagaytay restaurant is newly & completely renovated with light and airy interiors that gives a warm and modern feel. The restaurant now includes a purpose built showcase kitchen supported by a state of the art main kitchen. No wonder their food is served equally exceptional and delicious. There's also a new outdoor terrace with fireplace, an ice cream parlour window and kids buffet. So cute! There's also an entertainment area, a modern new bar servicing the restaurant, lounge, terrace and a feature wall streaming food videos to entice your appetite.

The Italian executive chef, Alessio Lodo and sous chef Jason Cabauatan revived the comfort food, both Filipino and continental. Giles and I were able to try a few dishes from their well curated and well thought out a la carte menu. It truly was a beautiful and satisfying dining experience. I love the Margherita Pizza and wine with lime. For dessert, we had the Frozen Brazo de Mercedez - their best seller. I wasn't surprised that it was their best seller because it was really, really good! After that amazing dinner, we enjoyed the cold weather outside and walked hand in hand under the little moon. I keep closing my eyes to feel the air on my skin and I can feel myself smiling for this surreal moment. The place was so peaceful and solemn at night.

We woke up at 7 in the morning, I put on my favorite one piece from Millennx and decided to pay the swimming pool a quick visit before breakfast. My body couldn't endure the cold breeze in the morning so I decided to take a photo instead and head over to Taza Fresh Table for breakfast.

This is probably one of the best breakfast places I've ever been to and the best breakfast food I've ever had in my entire life! I cannot even explain how great and utterly satisfying their food was. Again, Taal Vista Hotel exceeded beyond our expectations. The food servings were really huge and the quality of the food is really really amazing. The food is truly worth its price. I am definitely going back for the bread buffet! :p I ordered french toast which I didn't know is already topped with a lot and I mean A LOT of bacon and comes with maple syrup. I paired it with my favorite good 'ol orange juice, scrambled egg on the side plus some garlic sausage. Giles had the eggs benedict which (we didn't know) comes with a salad on the side and some garlic potato balls. I got a croissant & two more breads with filling at the bread buffet and for dessert we ordered fresh fruits & molten choco lave cake. If you're ever going to visit Tagaytay, I really recommend this place for breakfast. It felt so good & satisfying to start a day with a hearty meal. Great job, Taza Fresh Table!

There's a lot of activities that you can do in Taal Vista Hotel because aside from the restaurants & the beautiful view, we also got to visit the gym & the kids play room. We never got to try the spa but I saw from Nicole Andersson's vlog that it was nice too so maybe I'll give it a try on my next visit.

Overall, I really had a wonderful stay at Taal Vista Hotel and it's one of the best hotels that I would truly recommend for all of you guys. I love how equally nature loving yet modern the place is and to think that the hotel has been around for more than 70 years already. I truly commend Taal Vista Hotel for being able to keep up with today's ever changing style and high quality taste. Aside from that, I also felt very special and welcomed because of the friendly staff who really went out of their way to make sure that we are enjoying our stay and made sure that we enjoy every second of our stay there. I think Taal Vista Hotel is an awesome place to celebrate any special occasions like wedding anniversaries, birthdays, Christmas, New Year's Eve & more.

A side funny story: I loved Taal Vista Hotel so much that I was bugging Giles (my boyfriend) to get married there. Lol #pressure
